A Writer, Reader, Teacher & Learner
I love reading and writing. Always have. When I began teaching, I was thrilled that I had a knack for inspiring that same affinity in my students. When I stopped teaching full-time in 2000 to be home with my children, I began to teach home-schoolers in a writing workshop setting. I also took on private students who needed extra help improving their writing. I quickly found I was extremely effective in advancing the abilities of my private students outside the restrictions of a regular school setting.
I still teach English, write, and read like crazy here in Vermont. I scored the SAT essay section for many years. My credentials:
- 15+ years teaching high school English and writing, grades 8 though 12, every level from remedial to advanced placement
- 20 years of private tutoring and coaching
- M.A. in Education, College of WIlliam & Mary, Virginia
- B.A.s in English and psychology, University of Rochester, New York
- TOEFL training and tutoring ESL
